Physics
I have loved being in my physics class so far. We have an awesome teacher named Mr. Heerschap who loves horses and has a red baby doll in his desk that he refers to as "the dead baby". We work on labs to learn about interesting things such as velocity and air resistance and a whole lot more. We have a few really big projects throughout the year that are very fun and let us come up with and think about cool and original ideas. I am having so much fun, learning a whole lot, and can't wait for our next big project.
Rocket Project!
Post Launch reflection
The night that we launched the bottle rockets was totally awesome and very fun. I think that even though a lot of rockets didn’t work, everyone had a good time and was very excited to see how their, and other peoples rockets would do. There were a lot of really cool launches that went really high, and impaled themselves in the ground. The only problem was that about half way through, the launch pad went a little crazy. The pumps started filling with water, causing the rockets to not be able to hold very much pressure. So there were about five or six rockets that didn’t do a very good launch. Ours was one of them. It got stuck on the launch pad and fell over before launching, and we had to kick it off the launch pad to make it take off. Even then those rockets didn’t even go very high at all and most of them launched at a pretty intense angle. I have to say that my favorite part of the whole night was when a very tall rocket was full of pressure (after the pumps were fixed) then it fell over sideways and all the pressure and water sprayed out of the rocket straight towards Mr. Heerschap and he jumped back and screamed really loud like a girl! It was so funny, especially since we caught it on camera (look to your right) Because our rocket did not launch the first time we tryed it, we were given the opportunity to retest it. We went out and loaded it up, and launched it! It went about 60 feet high and the parachute deployed. My partner and I were very proud of our rocket and were very excited to finally see it launch. (more details on numbers and stream of water and more to come) |
Labs These are some of the labs that I have done so far this year. We did these to measure all kinds of things like speed and velocity, rebound height of different objects, the pull of gravity on these objects, and air resistance.
