Forensics Studies
In this forensics project everyone was given a crime scene to investigate
and solve using forensics. My partner and I were given crime scene 1, where a
man named Aaron Lee was shot, however the killer had tried to cover it up by
making the shooting look like a suicide. The victim had been very drunk, and
alcohol and drug levels in his blood were dangerously high, to the point where
if left alone, he may have died from toxins in his blood. Many tests were
performed to find the killer in this murder, including, DNA testing,
fingerprinting, blood typing, blood spatter analysis, and toxicology reports.
Clothes were found belonging to Michele Lee (the victim’s wife) with blood
spatter from a gunshot blowback; the blood belonged to Aaron Lee. Using this,
and more evidence found and processed, we discovered that Michele Lee killed her
husband Aaron Lee.
This project was very interesting because we were able to do our own
work, use problem solving, and learn new things, while applying it to a real
life job. This made this project fun to do, and made learning about forensics
very motivating. This project was also pretty confusing at the beginning because
I did not understand exactly what I needed to do, so there was a lot of time
wasted in the first few days of this project. However, after I got a complete
list of what I needed to accomplish, it was easier and I was able to focus on my
work and what I was learning.
If I were to do this project again I would find out exactly what I
need to be doing at the beginning of the project, and create some kind of
checklist so I can keep track of the many things we had to accomplish during
this project. If I would have had this, I would have used my time much better
than I did at the start of this project, and would have had more time for
refinement and learning more of this project.
