Project Reflection
During this project I learned how to speak
better Spanish, and how to conjugate and actually put together sentences in a
real life circumstance. In the future, this project will help me with simple
conversation, learning how to tell about myself using real sentences rather than
just words that we have been learning. Through this project I also learned about
Chile and some of its culture, and realized that Chile would be a good place to
visit to help me learn more Spanish, and to get to know a South American
culture. This project definitely helped me to grow in my Spanish speaking
skills, and improve them from how they were.
From this project, I am most proud of learning to write sentences in
Spanish, and finishing the story in Spanish. It was definitely a challenge for
me to learn some of this language, but in the end I am very proud of how I was
able to write a whole children’s story. Along with being proud there are also a
few things I could improve upon if I ever did this project again. The main thing
would be to find a different way to layout my story. This time I created pages
on word document and printed them out then pasted them into my book. Next time I
would try to choose another format that did not require a color printer because
this time it gave me trouble trying to find a color printer that I could use.
Also it was a struggle finding the right size of paper to print this out because
it had to match up perfectly with the size of pages in the blank book I started
with. In all, I learned a bit about actually speaking Spanish, had a few
improvements I could have made, but this was a good project that went pretty
well.
Exhibition Reflection
This exhibition experience was very new for me, I am used to speaking
with adults only and explaining in detail and project I have been working on for
a long time. Instead of adults I was reading a book I have been working on to a
few small children. In the beginning I thought that reading to children would be
much easier than usual, however it turns out that it wasn’t as easy as I thought
it would be, the children needed a lot of explaining and many of them did not
speak Spanish so our books had to be translated.
I really enjoyed this exhibition because it was more laid back and not as
formal trying to impress people but instead showing a child a book that I
created for their enjoyment. I also liked this because I love kids and
interacting with them and this was a great opportunity to hang out with some
kids and teach them something, and to entertain them. As a whole, this project
and exhibition went pretty well and I enjoyed the project and learned a lot from
it.
