Brave New World
For about two months, we studied Dystopias in humanities class. we learned that a utopia is a perfect world, and that a Dystopia is a perfect world gone wrong, or brought to such the extreme that it turns all worng. To better understand these concepts, we read a book called Brave new world (BNW). This shows a Dystopian world with many different social norms than we in the USA have, "a world where mothers and fathers don’t exist,
where if you get pregnant your life is ruined no matter what age you are, where
everyone worships a man named Henry Ford (creator of the model-T), where there
is a drug called soma that makes you happy whenever you take it, so everyone
gets along, and no one is ever unhappy." This novel, helped me to better understand the concept of a Dystopia and understand how extreme a Dystopia is, also what that would mean for someone living in that culture, or way of life.
